Which Linux distro is as sophisticated as Windows 7 Ultimate?

Thanks for the A2A.

Why would any Linux option try to limit itself to what Windows 7 can do? No offense. I have had Windows 7 Pro on my PC for 11 years and it’s still on there. Windows 7 is a desktop operating system and that’s it.

Windows is a poor and bloated one-fits-all operating system. It’s proprietary and doesn’t want you to look deeper. It’s “what you see is what you get”. You need to adjust your working style to what you get. And where Windows ends, your options end.

Linux is a kernel with a modular system around it and you adjust it to your particular purpose. You can look deeper wherever you want. You can use whatever you want. You can adjust it the way you want it.

Windows is ease of use, Linux is versatility and performance. It offers way more than Windows does. And it doesn’t matter if you use Arch, Ubuntu or Debian. Most them actually do! But you should bring the according genuine interest. Otherwise Linux will chew you up and spit you out.

Linux is all about purpose and taste. In case you don’t understand distributions, try the Linux Distributions Guide.
